We stopped in Pisa on our way to Florence to see for ourselves if the famous tower really does lean. It does! We didn’t spend much time in Pisa — just long enough to confirm the existence of the famous lean and to have some lunch. Then we were back on the train to Florence. We stayed at Hotel De La Ville which is steps from the Pantheon. After checking out the Pantheon, we took a nice walk down to a restaurant that Max (Nick’s brother) recommended to us. It was quite the experience! We sat outside on family style tables where several patrons of the restaurant all sat and dined together. No one spoke English and they did not have English translations on the menu. It was very difficult to know what we were ordering and a little intimidating. It was fun though and I had some of the best mushroom soup of my life.
