Mljet is an extraordinarily gorgeous island! A large part of it is a Croatian national park and is beautifully preserved with no resorts or other buildings. It is an absolute sanctuary. It seems that just when I think I’ve been to the most beautiful place on Earth, we go somewhere else that is even more beautiful. We had an excellent time cruising all over Mljet on scooters. Neither of us had ever ridden one and it was a little shaky at first, but after about an hour we both had it down. We spent some time exploring Mljet’s two famous salt water lakes. A tiny island with an old monastery sits in one of the lakes. It is a little surreal to be on an island that is within a lake on an island. After exploring Mljet’s lakes, we rode down a narrow road that winded through cliffs with very steep drop offs. The sweeping views were magnificent! At the end of one of the roads, we found a tiny village that had a perfect spot for a swim. We cooled off by diving into the water. After our ride around Mljet, I had a massage back at the hotel. We had dinner right on the pier – our last night in Croatia. We had an appetizer of sheep’s cheese and olives. Kory went for a very traditional dinner of grilled squid. I had lobster. And, of course, we had a pitcher of house wine. I am happy in Mljet!
